The first plane carrying passengers who were stranded in Leh after the floods lands in Delhi. Rescue operations to get to those in remote areas is still on.
The number of dead has gone up to over 150 in the Leh floods and about 400 people are still missing. 110 tourists, half of them foreigners, are being looked after at the Army’s Pank transit camp on the Leh-Manali road.
They have been given food, medicine and phone connection to the foreigners to talk to their embassies. More relief flights have been sent, one Air Force plane has already landed in Leh with relief material and tools for removing debris. Two more aircraft are on their way.
